Sue White Oakes

Sue has attained international recognition for her sculptures. A lifelong love of engineering has given Sue a keen appreciation of the perfectly adapted mechanical structures of her subjects, and this insight combined with superb craftsmanship enables her to produce unique works of art.
Over the past thirty years Sue has developed a unique way of working in copper using methods similar to silversmithing. Working like this enables Sue to create sculptures of the most delicate of insects and reproduce the huge variety of textures and shapes in birds.

Sue has had a number of her copper pieces cast in bronze, itself a fascinating and intricate process. The bronzes are usually made in limited editions of between 15 and 25 and these, like the coppers works, are enhanced with semi-precious stones for the eyes.
