Emma is an Orcadian designer-maker, working from her studio at her home in Holm, Orkney.
Emma has always been a creative person, with a particular passion for jewellery. She is a graduate from Grays School of Art with an honours degree in 3D Design and has since been an independant designer for Aurora Jewellery in Orkney.
Emma saw her last child off to school in August 2015 and found herself back at her bench designing and creating. Emma became inspired by sourcing items suitable for developing into wearable jewellery and loved the idea of transforming off-beat materials into more precious objects of value. She currently works with a combination of industrial hardware, wood off-cuts, polymer clay and Orkney beach stones. Emma enjoys working out innovative ways to create unique jewellery designs by applying surface texture to metal and she introduces colour by applying patterns to wood and enamel to metal.
Emma says she is loving the freedom of the process and that every piece is slightly different and quirky!
