A mostly self-taught Scottish artist based in East Ayrshire, Elizabeth is inspired by the ever changing countryside and it’s inhabitants. Almost every morning you’ll find her walking the dogs and soaking up the atmosphere around her. Big skies, sweeping fields of corn, the way the light hits a corner of wild flowers. And the animals, horses, dogs, cattle sheep all with their own personalities have found their way to her easel. The glint of an eye, a soft nose begging to be stroked, muscle tone and the way light plays with the texture of their coats, from smooth and silky to curly wurly.
Elizabeth has been a full time artist since 1996, after spending twenty something years in the design studio of BMK as a hand-trialist. While working for BMK she was encouraged to take up painting by well known Scottish artist Helen Turner who was a Designer in the studio at that time. Elizabeth has been lucky to have exhibited successfully in the past in many Scottish galleries. Numerous commissions have also come her way painting many horses and dogs, including some well known racehorses.
After a break for a few years as a carer, she is now back at the easel full time producing new work.
Her work can be found in private collections throughout the UK and in Northern Ireland, USA, Mexico, Canada, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand and Europe. Elizabeth works mainly in Acrylics, Oils and Mixed Media.
