Kim Redpath was born in Aberdeen in 1925 and he graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 1948. On graduation Kim’s career centred around education and he was an art teacher for 35 years. During this time, he also enjoyed great success as an artist and held countless exhibitions and shows throughout the UK. The nephew of legendary Scottish artist Anne Redpath OBE her influences can be seen in his work to this day. Much of this can be attributed to the closeness he had with his Aunt after Kim’s own mother passed away when he was young.
After retiring from his teaching career Kim’s attentions turned to painting full time and he continued to enjoy much success with highly successful exhibitions throughout the country. His work is held in many public and private collections and can be viewed in the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.
Sadly in 2018 Kim passed away but at the age of 89 Kim was still painting and most would agree that he had lost none of the finesse and delicacy that has featured in his work throughout the decades making him one of Scotland’s truly great artists.
