Irene is passionate about designing and making handbags that stand out from the crowd – handbags for individualists. Each one is different and combines her love of colour and traditional textile processes into unusual shapes, which are functional and practical but also quirky and fun – a tactile piece of art on your arm.
Her design process is very random – inspiration comes from anything and everything. Her favourite design tools are her scissors – poised over a piece of fabric – the start of a journey. Nothing is wasted – any small offcuts will provide the inspiration for a new design.
Irene has also started venturing into using recycled garments/fabrics which is very exciting – She loves the idea of transforming a throw-away item into something beautiful. Its a win-win situation. Textiles that hold special memories can be reborn into a new format whilst still retaining their reminders.
The bags are finished to the highest standards and are not completed until she is thrilled with the outcome.
