Shirley Pinder has returned to her first love, painting, after many years working as a textile designer, designing scarves for her own company which she sold worldwide. She works mostly in oil. With her vast experience of working with coloured yarns she paints with colours that excite her be they muted or bright. She loves the texture of the paint — tactile like textiles. Her subject matter is still life with fruits, flowers, ceramics and landscapes which are inspired by her travels to Spain, the countryside around her home in the Borders and the Island of Mull where she grew up.
